During the induction I met the course leaders, their names and what role they specialized in. In addition we did numerous activities to get to know other people on the course, and again learn their names. It was good to meet other like minded people that share a passion for media like I do. One of the activities we did was a treasure hunt around the college campus, which helped me learn where everything was located and made the college campus seem less daunting.
Another activity we started on the induction was completing our first Creative Media project entitled "The Object". We were split into groups of three and had to make a video about the object we were given; my group was given a hip-flask.

It took a while for us to come up with a good idea in the group that would be achievable and easy enough to film and be no longer than one minute long. However after an extensive amount of discussion and story-boarding we came up with a good idea.
First as a group we had to brainstorm all of our ideas on some paper - one of the common themes that came up in our brainstorming was the idea of alcoholism which was very relevant to our object ( a hip-flask) as this is associated with the abuse of alcohol. As a group we all agreed the idea of drink driving would help portray the message of excess alcohol consumption, and help us show off the hip - flask.
Once we had the idea of drink driving we started story-boarding, and planning how our video would look like - I enjoyed this quite a lot because it allows you to put all your ideas into a planed structure and really get an idea about how it will look.
As a group we came to a conclusion that if we did a video on drink driving, it would be very hard to film as we didn't have access to a car, so we decided we would change it slightly and make it about drink biking as a member of our group had access to a bike, so we did this instead. We now started to plan how we would film the project, so we went outside onto the college campus and began to do test shots. This was a really important step as it allowed us to be prepared for the next day when we had to film it.
I really enjoyed filming the video, as it was great to finally start seeing all our ideas come together. We edited the video using Adobe Premiere Pro - this was the first me and most of the group had used this software so it took a while to get used to but we learnt some of the basics of the software such as importing, exporting and trimming videos.
Overall, I think our video went really well and I'm really excited about future projects in the course.
